The results for Argentina do not seem to correspond to the results for Latin America in general. While the baseline for rural PISA scores still falls below that of urban PISA scores, the slope for urban resource quality and its effect on PISA scores is actually greater than the slope for rural areas. This is an area we have identified for further research. One likely explanation is the lack of significance for the beta coefficients in both reading and science. However, we also noted that Argentina has one of the largest GDP per capita in Latin America. This factor could potentially cause an issue in measuring how resource quality affects PISA scores. |
